SELF CHECK IN THROUGH FRONT GATE AND LOCK BOX AT FRONT DOOR. (Instructions sent 2 days before your arrival.) Share a lovingly refurbished 1907 home with me on the Oakland/Berkeley border. The Morning Room is warm and light filled nearly all day long. Furnished with a desk, super comfortable double bed, chair and dresser. It is 8’ 3” x 12’ 2” (101 sq. ft.) The Morning Room is 1 of 2 bedrooms that I rent out in the house. Bedrooms are upstairs, with shared bath and a half downstairs. Friends and relatives sometimes visit, some staying for a week or two at a time but the house is large enough that my guests are not disturbed. If both rooms are rented they sleep in the living room. My adult daughter uses the office next to the kitchen & is here as needed, usually a couple of times a week for a few hours. She has a small dog so if you are allergic, this may not be a good place for you. Please be sure that you are comfortable with this. Please have employment, landlord reference or 3 months of mortgage statements, 3 months of bank statements, & personal references available if you would like to complete an application through Front Porch, a non-profit rental agency. I will put you in touch with them. Move in requires 1st month's rent plus a security deposit of $1500 for stays of more than one month. Stays of up to one month require 1st month's rent plus a security deposit $500. The security deposit is refundable within 21 days upon completion of lease agreement & move out, with cleaning fees (usually $65) and any damage deducted. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is a short five minute walk away for easy access to UC Berkeley, San Francisco and both Oakland and SFO airports. AC Transit buses are within one block. The Bay Bridge is a 10 minute drive. If you arrive with a car, there is plenty of street parking, but a guest parking permit is required for short term guests. They are $5 per day or $27 for two consecutive weeks Monday through Friday. If you are staying long term, we can discuss securing a residential parking permit for you. UC Berkeley campus is about 2 miles away. There are many amenities within walking distance; post office, the fabulous Berkeley Bowl grocery store, Whole Foods, Sweet Adeline’s Bake Shop, La Pena Cultural Center, Ashby Stage Theater, cafes, the downtown Berkeley arts district, plenty of public transportation, etc. My kitchen is BIG, with two refrigerators, a six foot stainless steel prep table, double oven, six burner stove and two sinks. And a love seat right in the kitchen that makes conversation easy and fun while you cook. Outside I have a spacious front porch and porch swing to relax on and a big deck in the backyard. Lots of plants, birds, squirrels, cats, and the occasional raccoon will keep you entertained. HOUSE RULES ALARM NOT IN SERVICE AT THIS TIME. >No overnight visitors. >Remove shoes in the entry. Bring house shoes or slippers. >It is expected that you will keep your room and common areas neat and clean. No less that once monthly dusting and vacuuming in your room. is required. >Bathrooms: Leave the sink clean and dry. Toilet: Be sure flushing left it clean. >Kitchen Rules: Wash your dishes immediately after eating your meal. Put away your clean dishes soon after washing them. Use the dedicated dish drying towels to dry them. Wipe down the counters, work surfaces, and the stove (especially if you fry foods). Sweep up any food droppings on the floor. Be finished cooking, eating, and cleaning in the kitchen by 10 pm. >You are responsible for laundering your bed linens. >Turn lights off when you leave a room; turn off bathroom exhaust fan. >Save water!
