Beautiful 2,000 square-foot, 2-story furnished house, located in a wide, sparsely traveled cul-de-sac, in the original section of “University Hills.” The house features vaulted high ceilings and a well-shaded private back yard, all in the midst of the neighborhood’s wooded greenbelt and manicured gardens (including a 25-meter community pool less than 200 meters away). The pool is just another 100 meters from the edge of the campus itself. This is our home, fully furnished and equipped. It has 3 upstairs bedrooms, including a vaulted master bedroom/bath suite and a second full bathroom. There is also an upstairs office with two desks, which features a view of our front lawn and wide cul-de-sac. (We prefer to lock this office off as storage, but this is negotiable). Downstairs there is a half bath for guests and a large living /dining room area with a 30-foot vaulted ceiling; this area includes a glass and leather, six-seat dining room table, plus a separate seating area, which features a lovingly-kept, conservatory-quality 6-foot grand piano in black (Kawai RX2, built 2001). On the other side of the house’s downstairs is a spacious and fully-equipped Italian kitchen (including a breakfast nook for four). The kitchen opens onto an informal family room, equipped with a large brown sofa, fireplace, computer desk, and 50-inch media screen. The family room connects through a large glass door to a recently refurnished patio area, shaded by a pergola thickly lined with old-growth wisteria. On the far side of this ample back yard, surrounded by a hillside of trees and green foliage, is a modern bright-orange-metal dining table, with seating for six. The house’s high-speed internet is provided through newly installed Google Fiber. A 10-minute walk through our neighborhood arrives at the 62-acre UC Irvine Ecological Preserve, a hillside here offers distant views of Newport Beach, Irvine, and the mountains beyond. [Re this Preserve and other sites of interest described here, see clickable links at bottom of page.] Even more impressive, a 30-minute walk (or 5-minute drive) accesses the San Joaquin Marsh, California’s only “Wetland of Distinction,” whose great egrets, ducks, and great blue herons light often on the greenbelt (and sometimes cool off in the swimming pools!) just steps from our home. [See seaandsageaudabon.org link below.] It is an easy 20-minute walk to six independent-cinema screens, grocery stores (Target, Trader Joe's and Albertsons), restaurants, cafes, shops, banks, two large sports centers, hiking and biking trails. The community is also close to the ocean; Corona del Mar, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Crystal Cove are a 15-20 minute drive. Crystal Cove is an impressive preserve of approximately 4 miles of natural beachfront protected by the Crystal Cove Conservancy [See link below]. Los Angeles and San Diego are one hour away; and various Southern California attractions, such as Disneyland (18 miles), Universal Studios, and Legoland, are nearby. The neighborhood is very safe and great for kids. All homeowners here are employed by the University of California. Rental Price: $1800 per week; longer rentals may negotiate a discount. All utilities are included in the rental price (including water, gas, internet [Google Fiber], trash pick-up, and Homeowner dues, except for the electricity bill prorated for the days you rent our house (because this bill depends mostly on your choices as to use of our house’s central air conditioning system). See many pictures of the house and neighborhood at the link "Irvine House Photos" at bottom of this page.
