3-bedroom family home in the Glebe, Ottawa

Our house is located close to the Rideau Canal, which is lined with parks and walking/running/cycling paths. There are also canoe/kayak launches (and rentals) nearby for paddling. The University of Ottawa campus is a 25 minute walk (10 minute bike ride) along the Canal. Carleton University is about equidistant, and equally accessible on foot, by bike, or by bus. The neighbourhood also has several parks and playgrounds, a community centre, a farmers' market, cinemas, grocery stores, gyms, a football stadium, and some of the city's nicest small, locally-owned shops and cafes. The neighbourhood is wonderfully walkable! The house dates from approximately 1900 and has many original heritage features--as well as all the quirks and creaks you'd expect from an old house. It is comfortable, sunny, clean, quiet, and spacious. The primary bedroom has a queen bed and a small porch which is shaded by foliage in the summer. There are also two children's rooms: one has a bunk bed, the other a single bed. There is also a home office with lots of natural light, a sit/stand desk, and a view over the green backyard. The quiet, fenced backyard has a kids' sandbox. Off the kitchen there is a screened back porch with outdoor seating. The living room has a gas fireplace and a wall of bookshelves filled with books. The home has central air conditioning, screened windows, and a gas fireplace. There are two bathrooms (one full, one half) and laundry facilities. We are hoping to arrange a home exchange for one month in the summer of 2027 (preferably July), with a few days' wiggle room at each end. If we don't find a suitable exchange, we would be open to renting our house to a family or couple for one month. We are interested in having people stay in our home who are respectful of the house and neighbours, and who are non-smoking. Our first choice of location is Coastal BC (pref. Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast, Victoria, Ucluelet...). We are also open to a central neighbourhood of Edinburgh, Scotland, the west of Ireland (ex. near Galway, but we're open to other possibilities in Ireland), or a coastal part of Denmark or Sweden. We would take excellent care of your home while we're there and would be happy to collect your mail and water your plants and garden.
