Description

Unique Homestay Situation I have two rooms: a single with a full bed, and a twin room which can accommodate 1-2 guests. I’m looking for a professional or mature student who wants a home-like atmosphere. I don't accept smokers or users of fragrance or even aerosol spray: I'm very allergic. I have no pets. What I’m offering is unique in that it’s not a roommate arrangement, it’s a homestay. I prepare a full dinner every night—meat, grain, vegetable, salad, bread and often dessert—and self-serve breakfast: pastries, bread or cereal, coffee, tea, fruit—depending on guests’ tastes. Dinners feature cuisines like Brazilian, Italian, French, Asian and American—and sometimes vegetarian. Guests do not cook breakfast other than boiling water for coffee, tea or oatmeal. I often bake muffins or cakes. I also offer a boxed lunch for an additional fee. Because I'm a chef and provide restaurant-quality dinners, guests have limited kitchen access. I prefer that guests do NOT buy their own food, since I do not want monogramed eggs in the refrigerator! As dinners are included and significant effort goes into their preparation, guests help by alternating between setting the table, washing dishes, and taking out recycling & sweeping floor. There are usually 2-3 guests total, so it’s a rotating schedule. A quiet, sunny modern single-level home, split plan: my master bedroom and bath on one side, living room, dining room, kitchen and patio in middle, and 2 guest bedrooms on other side with shared bathroom. --free wi-fi for guests to use with their own devices. --washing machine, dryer and lines to hang laundry. 4 week minimum, guests arrive Sunday and leave Saturday. Rates are single occupancy; a 2nd person, who books with the first and stays in the same room, is an additional $800.00 per 4-week period, prorated. I don’t make my rates the same way as a hotel because I provide meals—and also because I’m a guy sharing his house with strangers, not a big company. I do not negotiate rates or lower prices. It’s important to me that my guests feel comfortable, so if you have questions or issues while you’re here, please tell me and I’ll try to resolve them Not suitable for children or pets No smoking No parties or events Additional rules I do NOT accept smokers, and ask guests to not use fragrances, or even aerosol spray, as I am allergic. Quiet hours are between 10 pm & 8 am. Breakfast is self-serve: coffee/tea/milk, bread/pastry, fruit. Guests clean up after breakfast: put dishes in dishwasher and wipe counter & table. Please do not leave dishes in sink or crumbs on table/counter, or bring food into your room. As dinners are included and significant effort goes into their preparation, guests help by alternating between setting the table, washing dishes, and taking out recycling & sweeping floor. I’m a professional chef and enjoy cooking, but am temperamental about sharing my kitchen, so guests have limited kitchen access: they prepare a self-serve breakfast but I cook dinner. Dinner is between 7:00 and 8:00 pm. If you won’t be home for dinner, please notify me the night before. Because my refrigerator is almost always full with food for my work—and for my guests—I do not save dinner for lunch the next day. Dinner is served at night; if you don't come home for dinner, it is not available to be eaten for lunch the next day. Guests who stay longer than a week clean their own rooms during their stay, including dusting and vacuuming. Please get permission before bringing any guests home. Sleepovers of un-registered guests are not allowed. Cell phones are not allowed at the dinner table. Do not put hot pots, especially the kettle, on the countertop or breakfast table. Make tea or coffee on the stainless steel table. If you burn the surface and it leaves a mark, you will have to pay for the repair. Check-in: Anytime after 5PM Check-out: 10AM
