Cozy 1 Bedroom In-Law apartment near UC Berkeley

I was very lucky to live in John and Sue's flat while visiting UC Berkeley for the Fall semester.

The house is nice and cosy with a good kitchen and interior and a lovely garden (with divine tomatoes!) It was clean and nicely prepared and John and Sue were very interested in fixing and improving things.

The location is great in a quiet, charming neighborhood, close to e.g. Whole Foods and a nice street with cafés/bakeries/restaurants. I commuted daily to the UC campus by bike (20-25 mins).

John and Sue were such nice hosts. I really enjoyed our frequent chats in the garden, they were always kind to help (e.g. picking me up at the station), very flexible, and social while respecting privacy. I cannot recommend them or this place enough!

Sue and John's apartment has everything you need for a sabbatical stay in Berkeley and even more (including fresh produce from the garden). The apartment is nicely furnished and well-equipped with everything you need for a few months. Communication with Sue and John was always a breeze. They are responsive, approachable, and genuinely care about any concerns or questions you might have. I wholeheartedly recommend Sue and John's apartment to anyone searching for a sabbatical home. Thank you for making my time in Berkeley so lovely and cheerful!

If you are looking for a quiet, spacious apartment, look no further! John and Sue are such kind and attentive landlords, truly the best you could ask for. The apartment is wonderful, and includes in-suite laundry and all utilities, plus there are some friendly pets on the property! Lots of light in the apartment, and fully furnished with the basics. Neighbourhood is also great - fairly quiet (train noise and occasional fire station training, but you get used to it pretty quickly), very safe, close to all key amenities and several bus routes.

This is a wonderful apartment in Northwest Berkeley. The apartment is in perfect condition, clean, fully equipped (including a washer and dryer) and very comfortable. It is bright, with windows on three sides, and the back and front door open to the sunny backyard. The place is calm and the living room is great for scholarly work, a good writer´s retreat. The house-owners are very nice and helpful, people who embody what is best about the spirit of Berkeley. There is about a 10-15 minute bike ride to downtown Berkeley and the University campus, and a 15 minute walk to the next Bart station. The town is good for biking. Recreational areas for hikes like the Berkeley Botanical Gardens are within reach. Supermarkets are within walking distance, including Whole Foods and Sprouts. Plenty of cafes in the neighborhood, not the least on 4th Street. For fitness the downtown YMCA can be recommended, but there is also a smaller fitness studio around the corner. All what is needed for a sabbatical in Berkeley.
