Family home in northern Iceland

Description

We will be on sabbatical between August and December/January 2026. We are looking for tenants to stay in our home for the duration of our sabbatical (it would be a bonus if you are an academic--we could help with connections to the University of Akureyri, where we work). Our home is ideal for families (we have three sons, ages 6-12). The home has four bedrooms: one bedroom has as single, lofted bed, one has a single bed with a pull-out single trundle bed, one has a double bed, and one has a king bed. The home also has a spacious living room, updated kitchen, sunroom, laundry room, and updated bathroom with double sink and shower. The house has a front lawn and in the rear is a large fenced-in deck with a hot tub that overlooks the fjord. The house is walking distance to most amenities in town. Akureyri is often called the "capital of northern Iceland" and is a short drive to many of Iceland's major destinations. Though the town is small, safe, and easy to navigate, it has features of a much larger city. These include a university, geothermal pools, a concert hall, art museum, fine dining, and a large botanical garden. The town also has a free public bus system. The regional airport offers daily flights to Reykjavik and seasonal flights to Europe (including biweekly flights to London with easyJet). Please feel free to contact us with any questions!
