Centrally located to amenities, our home offers an awesome kitchen, ensuite bathroom, and bonus family room downstairs with cozy wood stove for the rainy season in winter. It is a 1950s home with loads of charming features such as cove ceilings and hardwood floors. Our home backs onto a 15,000 sq ft nature reserve with indigenous plant species (Garry Oak Meadow); No maintenance backyard and low maintenance front yard (feel free to dig into the gardens!); Waterfall feature; Canoe available for use; Two electric bikes available for use; 30 minute walk to campus (10 minute e-bike ride, 10 minute car ride), office available for use; Adjacent a beautiful public 18-hole golf course and dining, and 5km chip trail walking/running course through nature. Grocery, pharmacy, banking, pubs all nearby (walking distance!). Includes high-speed internet; Wood burning stove and fireplace (2 cords of seasoned wood ready for use); Heat pump on main floor for AC/heating; Four-person outdoor hot tub available. Twenty-five minutes to Victoria International Airport and thirty minutes to the BC Ferry terminal to Salt Spring Island or Vancouver or Seattle. Maplewood is in Saanich East, bordered by Saanich Road to the East, Maplewood and Blenkinsop Roads to the west, and between Tolmie Road to the north and Cedar Hill Cross Road to the south. The neighbourhood is mostly made up mostly of single family homes, built in the ‘40s and ‘50s and ‘60s. Maplewood homes tend to have larger lots and as the topography of the area has many trees, hills, and rocky outcroppings – it is not uncommon to find homes that offer privacy along with vistas towards the Sooke Hills. What We Love: Playfair Park – at nearly 4 hectares with trails and playground equipment for the kids. The Lochside Trail and Galloping Goose Trail (multi-use trails) are minutes away and cover more than 80 kilometres, connecting downtown Victoria with Sooke and the Saanich Peninsula. Saanich East boasts an expansive stretch of ocean coastline, with views of the Haro Strait and San Juan Islands. Saanich as a whole has more than 170 parks, beaches and trails - the most parks, beaches and trails per capita than any other municipality in all of British Columbia. This makes Saanich, including Saanich East, an ideal district for both outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking the fresh air, coastal views, and outdoor leisure of Vancouver Island living. You can see Mount Tolmie from the top of our property. Locals refer to it as “The Best Place to View the City” for incredible views of the city below. It also makes the perfect vantage point for stargazing on clear nights. The park contains 1,500-metres of walking trails, picnic areas and quiet areas to enjoy. The best oceanfront playground in Saanich, located in Cadboro Bay, is 10 minute drive or 15 minute bike ride from our home. Besides its nautical-themed playground for kids, this park also features a sandy beach (and a seasonal, wheelchair-accessible beach ramp), outdoor tennis courts, a kayak/canoe/raft/SUP launch, as well as onsite washrooms, picnic areas and parking. The Moka House for coffee is nearby as is Smuggler's Cove Pub. Neighbourhood Schools: Cloverdale Traditional Elementary Quadra Elementary School Reynolds Secondary School
